Bighorn Title

Bighorn’s Course Routing

ighorn was designed by Arthur Hills. My recreation of the golf course was released in July of 1994. Many thanks goes to Russ Beckner who provided a wealth of information on the course and made sure our rendition was accurate. Bighorn is one of the most unique golf courses in the world. It is located in Palm Desert, California in the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains, with many of the front nine holes actually built into the mountains themselves. The elevation changes provide some incredible views. Especially so is the sixth hole, the highest point on the course at 1,150 feet above sea level. It features a 172 foot drop from tee to green. Saguaro cacti, which are not native to the area, where imported and planted throughout the course. The front nine and back nine play as almost two different courses, with the first being more rugged and the back being more gentle and traditional. Bighorn is probably best known for hosting the PGA Skins Game between 1992 and 1995. More details on Bighorn can be found in the text file that is included with the course.

Bighorn’s Hole 5The par 4 downhill 5th hole.

Bighorn’s Hole 12The approach shot to the 12th green.
